How to get the best from your Nail Enhancements

We want you to be happy with your nail enhancements, we also want them to be long-lasting and stay looking beautiful.  Once you leave the salon with your elegant nails it is up to you to give them the small amount of care and attention they require and your nails will remain looking as good as the day you walked out the door, until your next appointment.  We've put together some easy to follow guidelines to help you make this happen.

Getting used to your nail enhancements

    • Make sure you book a regular rebalance/maintenance appointment.
    • Don't bite or pick at the edges of your nail enhancements, this can lead to weakening, lifting and breakage.
  • If you break or notice a nail enhancement lifting significantly, don't ignore it.  Call us to arrange a repair as soon as possible.

  • If you're used to wearing your nails short then longer length nails may take some time to get used to.  Take care in how you use your hands for the first 2-3 days and gradually you will get into the habit of using your hands in a different way and the nail enhancements will start to feel as natural as your own nails.

Around the house

  • Wear rubber gloves when you wash up or clean.  Harsh detergents will 'age' and make your nail enhancements brittle and more prone to breakage.

  • Treat your new nails with care.  Car doors, kitchen cupboards and switches can all cause breakages.

  • When wearing nail enhancements always avoid pulling backwards againt the tips of the nails, this could cause injury or breakage.  So don't pull the washing out of the machine with your nails and remember your new nails are not tools!

What products should you use on your new enhancements?

  • It's important to use SolarOil daily even if you are wearing polish or Shellac.  Massage a tiny amount of SolarOil into your nail enhancements every night before bed.  SolarOil will keep your nails flexible, prolong their life and reduce the risk of breakage as well as keeping the skin surrounding your nails healthy and well hydrated.

  • Invest in a hand lotion that will penetrate the skin and your nail enhancements such as, Scentsations hand and body lotions from CND.

  • A professional file is a must to help you to keep the length of your nails constant and to avoid letting them grow too long.  Excessive length causes breaks.

  • When removing nail enamel always use a non-acetone based remover.

  • If you wish your natural nails to stay healthy or to have your nail enhancements removed, you should return to the salon.  We will be able to remove your enhancements safely with a professional product remover.  Any improper removal or client interference will weaken and may cause significant damage to the surface of your natural nails.

  • Breakages once you have left the salon are your responsibility.  If you do feel that your technician is responsible for any problems you may have, then you must return to the salon so that your technician can see the problem you are having and decide on the best course of action.  The salon will not refund or replace unless they have the opportunity to view and assess your nails first.
